40! on 28-July-2010

A Happy 40th Wedding Anniversary wish to my dearest parents, Mak and Abah. I sincerely wish you both good health and a happy blissful life in the days and years to come. Insya-Allah.

Although the actual date was July 28th, we did had an early celebration during the last school holiday as all of us were able to be home at the same time.

Reception was great and lively with guests from our immediate families, my parents’ friends and neighbors. Food were fantastic, especially the chicken and mutton dish. We even tapau back the chicken to Kota Damansara!

I made them a double layered Ultimate Choclate Brownies for their anniversary cake and no doubt the grandkids helped with the frosting and cake decoration.

I pray that Mak and Abah stay happy together, always. Aminn...

..and here are a couple of picture of sweet Arissa and Ellysha!

Until later.

New Chapter..

I left just a month short to 13 glorious years of working for a Company N. It was an anticipated situation. Company N had decided to change their business model in Malaysia. All employees were either transferred to new buyers or received notification(VSS). Mine was the latter. The new buyer has no plan to set up an entity in Malaysia and the support for existing customers comes from a neighboring country.

I still get questioned for my loyalty from friends and strangers alike. They found it intriguing that I can stay on for such a long time. Well, perhaps it was a little bit of complacency but for me if the company you are working with provides you with a happy working environment, great people managers who help you achieve your objectives and help you propel your career, I do not see the need to move to a different company. It was a win-win situation. Of course with Company N it was not all bed of roses. I survived numerous downsizing exercises but I always had something great happening right after that which made me stayed on. It was really sad when the day finally came but we part in good terms. I will always cherish my years with Company N.

Then enter my 3 months of joblessness. It is not that easy to secure a job once you without one. You do not have much leverage to negotiate for a much better pay then those who still have a job unless your skills are very much in demand. It was a humbling experience and it is one that I do not wish to go through again.

Alhamdulillah, I have just recently embarked in a new chapter of my working life. I am forever thankful to Mak dan Abah for their prayers for my interview. Dah tua-tua ni, nak pergi interview pun minta didoakan lagi. He he but Alhamdulillah, berkat doa Mak dan Abah, juga doa dari Che Abang, anak-anak dan adik beradik, I managed to secure the position. Again, Alhamdulillah.

Company T is a bit of a drive from Kota Damansara. It is in fact in Cyberjaya! It is a about 110 KM return drive, which constitute to about RM 70 weekly worth of petrol and RM12.20 daily return trip toll fee. That does not include the wear and tear and the emotional stress of driving through highway traffic jam between Damansara and Subang stretch.

I really hope that this will be worthwhile and I will make it be. Company T’s line of business was very much different then Company N, but hey, it is a new chapter so new set of challenges are very much welcomed.

Till later,
Fiz.
